But doesn't anyone here like sequels? Are they really that horrible? There are a few I do like, but a majority of them I watch once and never again. The sequels of today are really lame. They had a little more substance when they first started out (KOT, BATB Enchanted Christmas, LKII, etc) before they really started to boom and now they're the cookie cutter plots. What are the elements of sequels that you hate? The main one I hear about is next generation sequels. For me,it was always a thrill to see characters that had a little of each of their parents, since there were usually qualities in their parents that I loved. Yes,I know it can take away from the original characters, but what happens when the parents still play a major role, like in TLK 2? Or in fanfiction? Are you going to reject all next generation fanfiction and films based purely on that? I HATE the sequel-based-off-a-child plot just because it's always the original movie just through their child. TLM II is a great example because that was honestly murder to watch. It was the SAME thing, just different villain and heroine. And if they are going to make an original movie based off their child, they might as well make it a full length movie and not a sequel because I didn't get to know that child in the first movie because, hi, they weren't there or that important. You see most of the kids they have in the first movie in the last 3 mintues of the film. They are an accessory, not the outfit. Fanfiction and canon is two different things. I can read a story on Aladdin and Jasmine's kids, but that doesn't make it canon, nor does it mean I am going to hate it. As far as what I see on screen and in this point in time over Disney animated sequels, I do not like the idea of them having kids in a sequel. If you asked me this back when the sequels weren't so bad, *maybe* I would have been ok with it, but I just don't like that plot device at all. I don't need to see the same plot again through their children because it's already been done. It's called Aladdin. Get something new and original. Also, people complain that a lot of cliches are used. So what? Did it ever occur to anyone that there's a reason why these cliches work? Did anyone ever stop to think that a lot of Disney movies, even Aladdin, were chock full of them? For example: Almost all Disney movies have the idea of two worlds coming together. Streetrat and princess, apeman and British snot, Indian and English settler. You name it,they've done it. The idea that "true love conquers all". A beautiful theme, but it's been used in every, and I mean EVERY Disney film. The storylines may change, but these cliches are in pretty much all the classic Disney films. If you love it so much in the first movie, why do you hate it in the sequel? In my span of Disney fandom, I have never heard anyone complain over any of those. Those are Disney cliches that are associated with what they've built. You expect a happy ending; You know that true love is going to conquer all; You know that these two seemingly different worlds are going to come together and set aside their differences. Why? Because that is what has been set up. Not to mention, these are fairy tales we are talking about. They have certain themes that must be followed in order to fit the criteria. *Everything* in the world is a cliche in someway. When I see complaints over cliches, it's over stuff like "Why are all the newer heroines all rebels?" It gets tiring after a while, even with the movies fitting the times of today. You don't have to overkill the theme or idea by putting it in *every* single movie, you know?
I noticed that. I totally hated the recoloration of his outfit at first, too - until I realized that if it actually was red like it should have been, it looks pretty good.

Jafar in pink just shouldn't happen.
His outfit looked a shade of pink in the second movie. Maybe not Barbie pink, but it wasn't as red as it should have been.

Sometimes I find myself wishing that they'd reanimate RoJ and KoT with high-quality animation. I'm pretty sure they could fake it on a computer at this point.
Yeah. Then Jafar wouldn't have worn pink.

You know, I wanted that too for the DVD release. I mean, they brightened and cleaned-up everything for it, why not re-do it? But then there's time and money and all these other factors that would come into play. Maybe for the 20th anniversary?

I didn't care much for RoJ, but i'm glad they made it otherwise they wouldn't have made KoT, which I really liked. If thye had made KoT in the same animation as the first one, then it would have been better as well.

Well, if you think all sequels are bad you'd hate RoJ because it was the first DTV "sequel" and if it wasn't so profitable they'd never have made others.
And we still get the better of the deal because ours doesn't suck as much as everyone elses

The wrong thing about sequels is The Return of Jafar?

What's wrong with Disney sequels? Four words. The Return of Jafar. Honestly I hate it! And I love Jafar!
You just don't like it because they killed him off.

You know what's crazy? My dad went to see the first movie in theaters when he was a kid.
