I love that book and have read it at least ten times! If done right, a movie about it could be one of the greatest things ever. Eva Ibbotson has some other good books that could be used, too. <br /> <br />Personally, I'd love to see Disney make something based on Astrid Lindgren's work. For those who don't know her, she was a Swedish author who wrote a lot for children. Among my favourites are <span style="font-style: italic">Mio, My Son</span> and <span style="font-style: italic">The Brothers Lionheart</span>. Both are fantasy stories for children. The latter tells about two brothers who die and travel to another world where they have great adventures. <br /> <br />She also has some fabulous short stories that would make wonderful movie adaptations. There's one about a boy who got sick and can never walk again and how a strange man comes to take him away to an imaginary world every evening. It's a little like <span style="font-style: italic">Alice in the Wonderland</span>, though. Then there's this story about a girl who has a secret twin in another world. It's quite a sad story. <br /> <br />Oh, and don't forget <span style="font-style: italic">Ronia, the Robber's Daughter!</span> Ronia lives in a castle in a forest with a band of robbers. She makes friends with Birk who is the son of another robber chieftain. Unfortunately, the bands are bitter enemies and Ronia and Birk have to learn a lot about life, love, friendship and fear. It has fantasy elements in it too, especially in the form of these bird creatures that haunt the forest.
