Honestly, the amount of criticism Ariel and Jasmine gets is ridiculous. I mean really, they expect the girl to be swimming around in a t-shirt or something. YOU try swimming with all those clothes on and tell me how it works out. They can only use what they have down there and if it's shells, then it's going to be shells. If she swam around with a shirt, everyone would have been all "omgz, how did she get that?!1 not real!!1"
So true. Actually they'd probably say "Disney encourages teens to do wet t-shirt contests!"
I don't see too many 'large' or 'plump' mermaids running around Atlantica either. At the rate they move and I guess based on what they eat, that would dictate how big they get. Her stomach should be *ripped* with all the movement she does. She's just 16 and the movie is called the Little Mermaid. I know that's not the exact meaning of that, but she's the 'little mermaid' for more than one reason.
I haven't thought of that. I'll be using that in all my rebuttals from now on. Besides, all that under water pressure must help.
Ariel's sleeves and puffs on her dress so screams 90s
Yes! But I'm a 90s baby and I never liked that dress.
And I don't think they took that long to get married, although yes--it wasn't five seconds later . Melody was born soon after and assuming nothing happened on land that we weren't shown  , it couldn't have been that far off I think. Maybe a week, but I can't imagine months.
But, come on! I doubt Ariel knows anything about human reproduction  They probably have babies the way fish do. (ever watched futurama?) At most, I'd give them 2 years. At least, I'd give them 1 year to get married.
Mm. I should make sure that one's written down on my list.
*Checks*
Yep, I have it. Rule 16: Sleeves that are poofy and round at the top usually look silly.

It's one of my Personal Rules of Fashion: Never wear a sleeve that is as large or larger than your head.

I like the sleeves. They wer like the dresses Monica and Aimee wore in Corazon Salvaje(you can see Aimee's sleeves on my avatar). God, I loved those dresses. I used to wear dresses with sleeves like that when I was younger, also. Not exactly the same, but the sleeves were a little puffy, though. My mom gave them away.
They were such beautiful dresses, though.

Given that Ariel was sixteen in the first movie... that'd put her no older than... oh, thirty-three, thirty-fourish in the sequel. (Actual age depending on a number of factors, ie, how long until the wedding, how long until conception, etc.)

I never thought of 'em thataway before. I just hated that sleeve style.

Y'know, originally they were going to make Melody 16, so I hear, but decided that it would make Ariel too old.

Yeah, that's definitely the uttermost perk of living underwater.
Actually, I'm particularily fond of ocean-related stuff myself, but this interest is well-balanced with a healthy fear of drowning. Submarines I like, but regular ships let you see way too much. Although I really wish I did like topside boats more, because the general concept of sailing is downright awesome. I suppose if I had gills it would help with the phobia, but then I would want to spend all my time underwater and sailing wouldn't be so cool anymore. Ah, well.
I'd guess that Ariel and Eric's wedding took at least a couple months to assemble. Which doesn't neccesarily mean they waited...
But you can bet Prince Eric wasn't doing the funky-monkey with a mute girl he'd only just met.

But they DO scream. It's just not a scream on the sonic level.
Or rather, 'scream' is actually a way to describe what's happening in
your
brain. See, if someone screams, your brain activity goes up. If you recognize a piece of furniture, your brain activity goes up. Hence that 'screaming' feeling.

I beg to differ! Watch any movie set in the future and invariably the 'future' styles will look so much like the styles of the time the movie was made it's almost disturbing.
They don't scream! They just sit there!

*whispers* '80s. I cite her bangs and pink nail polish, too.

And yeah, that would a product of the Disney Princess fitting with the times.

You know, that may just have been it.
Damn you Sebastian.

*Sigh*Maybe I'm exagerating. I just don't like Eric cause Ariel left the ocean cause of him. I would have rather she stayed in the water. It's much cooler. And you get better scenery. And visit the Titanic whenever you like.

Woah! People, this is Disney! Not the Brothers Grim or Greek Mythology. Besides, not every guy out there is a rapist. C'mon!
