You mean the entire book the Arabian Nights, or just the story of Aladdin? And even then, do you want to one with the really archaic writing, or with a slightly better translation of it? |

Maybe you are thinking he is evil because of how he basically chewed Aladdin out for asking him to bring the egg of a roc, and that was something he couldn't do because that's like his God..or something like that. It's been a few months since I read that story. |
Where can I read this story? In 1001 Arabian Nights? |

They weren't evil, or ecstatically happy. They were just...there. They had to obey to whoever had the lamp.

No, in the original version...oh. Maybe you're right. I could have sworn one was going to be evil, though. |

Well, if one Genie was evil and another was good, maybe that's some indication. I can't even tell what's supposed to be Aladdin and/or his friends, so don't ask me. |
The genie of the lamp wasn't evil, but the lamp was stolen by Jafar and he had to obey him. |

It's a shame this song didn't make it into the final movie. In my personal opinion, most of the cut songs could have been slightly adjusted to fit into a completely different film if Disney wanted to, but apparently they don't want to... |

Ok, that makes the song make more sense.

I have the lyrics, but it doesn't mention which character is supposed to be singing what. The fact that you have two people doing all the voices doesn't help much. |
Yeah, that's all I've been able to find too. My sister's and I were trying to figure out who was who last night, but I think we confused ourselves more than figure anything out. |

In that version there was still a genie of the lamp and a genie of the ring, like in the original story. Jafar stole the lamp, but Aladdin still had the ring, and this was the song for the fight scene at the end. Beyond that I have no idea what's going on. I have the lyrics, but it doesn't mention which character is supposed to be singing what. The fact that you have two people doing all the voices doesn't help much. |

Or maybe when they go after Jafar.
I don't know. Can you say "Major Rewrites"? |
