So when I first heard the directors of Aladdin as well as TLM, Hercules and Princess and The Frog had a new film coming out this year, I got excited. But I just found out that the film will be CGI instead of traditionally animated like their other work, and that doesn't sit well with me. That brought my expectations down a little. Why did they decide to turn over to the dark side like this? And why does Disney want to do CGI only now these days? CGI is a curse, not a blessing.
I heard about that and I contributed to their Indie Go Go campaign. I'm looking forward to it.

Hahaha, Don Bluth. XD I don't know why that amuses me so much. Hopefully, he'll churn out better quality animation than in the past.

I don't hate CGI, but I definitely prefer traditional animation. Traditional animation has far more potential to be beautiful, I think. I've never seen CGI that made me think, "Wow, that is gorgeous," but plenty of traditional animation have left me breathless.
Home on the Range was reportedly supposed to be Disney's last traditionally animated film. Then, TPatF was Disney's effort to bring back traditional animation, but it didn't do as well as they hoped, so they once again decided to abandon the art form in favor of CGI. Their belief was that it didn't do well because it was traditionally animated and not CGI. Honestly, I just think the film was seriously lacking in many areas. The art and fluidity were beautiful, but aside from that, the story was rushed and weird, the characters were two-dimensional, and the music was bland with horrible lyrics. I really wanted to like TPatF because I so wanted Disney to start making traditional animation again, but I was so disappointed when I saw it.
I hope that they'll try again in the future. :/
