I don't mind the trend per se. I just wish it were more art and less hasty money grab. And I wish the studio would focus on more original things. Like maybe release a remake here and there, not 3 in the same dang year. Lilo & Stitch has always been meh to me, as a kid and still as an adult. Although I do like the premise minus Stitch (sister adopting sister, etc.)
This is basically a repeat of the sequels era except these are all going to the big screen. >_<

My only issue with this trend is how it's really about money-grabbing, instead of actually making art out of it. Also doesn't help either hat they try to make it darker and such, to make it more 'mature', hardening the belief that animated movies are only for kids.
As for Lilo and Stitch, I did like the heart of the movie, but wouldn't call it a classic, but least if they actually cared to make something good and fix the issues from the original, it might be good actually (or I'm just too naive)

I have a friend who calls Bob Iger "short-sighted," pumping out films for the money and not thinking ahead. He thinks they'll remake the remakes as animated features when the live-action films are done.

Oh, I have
been
over this trend. And superhero movies, too. I'd like these trends to change if it isn't too much to ask. XD
I really can't imagine L&S in live-action at all. Maybe if they took out the aliens and just focused on Lilo's quirky relationship with her sister. That alone could be a nice live-action movie. But the aliens were the justification for animation in the original film, and I don't think they're going to translate very well to live-action.
But...who knows. I could be wrong. As I so often am.

Post subject: Lilo & Stitch Live-Action Remake
A live-action remake of the 2002 animated film “Lilo & Stitch” is in the works at Disney, an individual with knowledge told TheWrap.
Jonathan Eirich and Dan Lin of Rideback, who are currently attached to the “Aladdin” remake from Guy Ritchie, are producing the “Lilo & Stitch” remake.
The film tells the story of Lilo, a Hawaiian girl who lives alone with her older sister, who adopts a pet that turns out to be a dangerous, blue, alien fugitive that she gives the name Stitch. The film made $145 million at the domestic box office in 2002 and spawned an animated TV series and several direct-to-video sequels.
Yeah, I'm over this trend now
.
We still have to go through The Lion King, Mulan, Dumbo, and Lady and the Tramp.
