I read an interesting review that says 'Cars' is just like 'Doc Hollywood'. I've never seen 'Doc Hollywood', but I can bet that 'Cars' will be short the PG-13 90's-ness... however much of it there was.

I like the Pixar movies. For one, they rarely delve into the depths of bathroom humor like other "children's" films these days and they usually have a good story to back up the visuals, which are gorgeous in their own right.

Post subject: The Cars Discussion Thread
A thread for the newest Disney/Pixar film, Cars! Did anyone get to see it/does anyone plan to?
My family went and saw it on Saturday night and we thought it was great fun. The characters were cute and appealing, the story had the typical Pixar buddy-film 'heart,' and the country-inspired soundtrack was a lot of fun! Tons of gorgeous CGI animation, proving Pixar's still the best in the field, and lots to look at, including some great Pixar inside jokes.
A very fun movie and I recommend it!
Oh, and...
Dear Critics,
Please don't say "Cars is bad because it isn't Toy Story." First of all...um, duh. Why would they make the same exact film again? Second, I don't mind if you compare the two to illustrate what you liked/didn't like about this film to past Pixar movies, but "not Toy Story" doesn't tell me anything about what Cars IS, or even WHY you may have preferred Toy Story. You're reminding me of the "everything-after-Lion-King-is-so-awful" crowd.
No love,
Ellen (Who thought the storytelling elements of Toy Story were stronger than in Cars, but that Cars' characters and rich visuals made for a very worthwhile and enjoyable film nonetheless)
