Whenever I watch those kinds of movies, I care so little for the characters that I end up siding with the villain to kill them all. I've only seen the first and third installments. I skipped over Part 2 and went straight to part 3 because that was the first in the series where Jason wears the hockey mask, which has become an iconic symbol of slasher films and horror films in general. I also find Part 3 very entertaining and it is already making me want to check out the rest of the series.
