http://www.kimbawlion.com/rant2.htm
I was searching on the Imdb boards and I was lookin through some disney movies. So I decided to look at the lion king and there are many topics about The lion king copying off of Kimba the white lion. I thought this link is very interesting and maybe you guys can take a look at it too. The pictures on the website seem very alike! Does anyone else think so? _________________ Icon: by madeleneg |

I've seen that before and I must say the resemblance is pretty close. |

*deep breath*
THOSE fucking TLK FANS REFUSE TO ADMIT THAT THEIR "GREATEST DISNEY MOVIE" which honestly doesn't deserve as much credit as it gets WAS STOLEN FROM MY IDOL, OSAMU TEZUKA.
I feel better now
EDIT: And on another note, The Lion King was indeed the largest grossing Disney movie. That means jack shit.
Starting with The Little Mermaid and all the way through TLK, Disney movies were grossing more and more each year. TLM was good, so BatB must be good, too. BatB was good, so obviously, Aladdin must be good too! And since so many people loved Aladdin, they all went to see TLK when it came out. Thus, making it such a high-grossing movie.
Judging by the pattern, Pocahontas should have grossed more than TLK, but it didn't. Perhaps less people went to see Pocahontas because they weren't satisfied with the Disney movie that came before that? _________________

I haven't see Kimba so I can't comment.
But on of the reason why Pocahontas bombed so much was because it was so Americanized. While other stories for Disney Movies came from other countries, they were all old legends. Pocahontas on the other hand was pretty much the History of America with a bit of romance thrown it. While I'm sure that the American people loved it, the rest of the world really didn't care to hear the Thanksgiving Story re-told by Disney. _________________ "Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead.

Well, the people on the other side of the world didn't care much for Mulan because she "looked too American." And I've ran into many people who think the same about Aladdin |

Yeah, Disney just isn't as creative as people give them credit for. Like the movie Atlantis. At first, I thought Atlantis was ripping off Stargate - until I read about another anime (Nadia and the Secret of Blue Water), which Atlantis mirrors WAY too closely to be coincidental.
Though - Dr. Strongbear Sweet, being half-Native American and half-black - doesn't that call to mind Christopher Judge, who is black/Cherokee?
If you ask me, I think they probably figure that with getting their ideas from anime, enough people wouldn't have seen the original material to make a difference. _________________

That was my thought, too. As soon as I can find a Stargate trailer I'm so making a parody video. And then of course after that they came out with Stargate Atlantis, and the circle of coincidence was complete. |

I'd love to hear more about this - because I thought Disney did Atlantis before SG did anything with Atlantis.

They have a lot of SG commercials here. Maybe you'll find what you need.

Of course. John Sheppard v. Milo Thatch? No competition. Though Thatch is more of a McKayish character. But Rodney McKay v. Milo Thatch is an easy choice too. _________________

I meant the movie: you know, linguist is the only one who can read this ancient language and helps a group of soldier-types find an ancient civilization and falls in love with a girl there.

I was talking about the movie Stargate, not SG-1 or Atlantis, but thanks, though. |

Well, I've never seen Kimba, but I like the Lion King. I love lions. I love all cats, so I guess that's why I love it, really. _________________ "I too am a member of your species, Captain, or I was. Speaking of lions, they finally found a dead mountain lion after three months of sitings.
And it was near where my mom and I drive to school every Tuesday and Thursday. _________________
