I've been working on a something. I just need help on how to describe household stuff, or things in this time without actually telling what it really is.
For example,
car = automatic carriage
jet plane = large bird that spouts out fire from it's behind.
T.V. = box with moving pictures
light = fire in a glass ball.
etc etc.. |

Is there something specific you are needing another word for? |

Just simple household appliances or everyday use. Like a prophet that saw things in the future. How would he describe things that are ahead in his time. How would he describe a lamp post? or a refridgerator. or a motorcycle ? Clever little names just by reading it. You as the reader know what it is.
I read something that Nordstradamis foresaw 9/11. He said that two firebirds that fell from the sky and hit two towers.
Need a Disney version:
The medicine man in Pocohantas, said, " These strangers had weapons that spout out fire." |

So like....a giant chamber contained with a multiple variety of foods that are constantly chilled for a fridge? |

Personally, I think a refrigerator would be thought of as a food cupboard.
Descriptions would vary upon the technological level of who was writing them. Would it be Neanderthals or the educated and fairly advanced Romans? Or a barbaric Germanic tribe? Or the Rennaisance-period Chinese? All would see these things very differently.
Lightbulb - I see it as being closer to the sun - EG, "they had set the sun on a pedestal." (Though the sun could be changed to a sun or a star depending on this particular person's concept of the universe.)
I bet you can figure these out...
"A horizontal tablet of letters, that, when each letter was touched, caused a counterpart to be formed upon a second, vertical tablet, which glowed with a soft light from within."
"A box, embellished with shapes and symbols, that when touched, caused the box to produce assorted noises; some quite offensive to the ears, some pleasant."
"The head of a windmill in a cage-like frame that, instead of turning with the wind, produced a refreshing breeze from itself." _________________

You'd think Aladdin fans, what with the whole "take off your clothes" rumor, would know to check snopes about this kind of thing:

Yeah, I read that article awhile back. Totally insane. When something like a tragedy happens, rumors fly like it was foretold. I mean, if it was foretold why didn't they warn us before the incident. Instead of after?
But you know I was using an example to describe modern things from a person that is from the past. |
