I've just recenty re-watched Snow White for the first time in years. Man, I remembered how much I loved the dwarves and the songs. It was really cool watching it all over again. Too bad I had let the tape grown dusty and ignored for years. I think it was because I had outgrown Snow herself. I didn't think she was kick-butt enough as a kid so I completely forgot about her. But in Snow's defense, I caught a few of her strong moments in the film.

1. The scene where she runs. True, she was oblivious to her step-mom wanting to kill her, and when the woodsman tried to stab her she shields herself like *that's* going to do anything. She should have run then! Laughing But having the strength to run away (and that girl ran fast!) was the one thing did to save herself. That was pretty brave considering she didn't know where she was going to go and she left her only home.

2. That scene where she says, "You don't know what I've been through. And all because I was afraid. I'm so ashamed of the fuss I've made. What do you do when things go wrong?...I'm sure I'll get along somehow."

3. When she cleans the cottage. It takes a *strong* person to do that. I would not go near that place without some sanitizer and gloves. Snow is a princess who isn't afraid to get down and dirty and do manual labor, mostly because of her step-mom.

Does anyone know how old she's supposed to be? 12 or 13?

Interesting insight. I never thought of it that way,but you made a lot of very good points. Plus, I always thought that was a good movie, anyway.I stil watch it every once in a while.

I don't think Snow is 12 or 13, since she did marry a prince in the end. I'm guessing more like....16?

Yeah. Those are good points, especially since the way of how women are viewed was different back then.

As for her age, some say that's she's at least 14 or 13. That's still pretty young even back then to snag a husband and my great-grandma was 15 when she got married.

I always thought she was younger because of her shape and the way they keep referring to her as "the little princess." And how she says stuff like "Just like a little doll house!"

It's quite possible that Snow White happened to be one of those baby-faced girls - the kind who will always look a few years younger than she really is.

I never noticed before, but Snow White actually *prays!* Studios try to keep religion out of their movies so as to not cause controversy, so that's some rare footage Laughing She asks God to bless the dwarves and for Grumpy to like her. Laughing Why did she even bother asking? His name is *Grumpy*!

Well, in "Hunchback" Esmerelda prays...through song and we have a saying that singing is praying twice as hard. Laughing

Because back in 1939, it wasn't nearly as controversial. Portraying characters as Christian was actually acceptable back then.

...And it makes me want to gag, what's acceptable now while religion isn't.

When I was under eighteen, people thought I was older. But now, people think I'm eighteen or nineteen.

Snow White never was my favourite Disney Princess. I just always saw her as the weakest of them all, I don't like the way she looks, and I also don't like her voice. I almost think if she had a different voice, I'd like her a lot better.

You know, I always thought, in attempt to make herself the fairest in the land, the Evil Queen resorted to making herself ugly. I kind of wonder, why didn't she just use her power to make Snow White ugly in the first place?

Also, in the original story, the Queen came to the Dwarves' house with a courset to crush Snow White's ribs. Is it true that Disney had thought about using that, but decided not to?

Actually, I heard that the original Snow White voice was dubbed over by another that was less high pitched, for the video release. The first one was much worse, but it was "in" at the time.

I always thought the queen wa so pretty, even more than Snow White. But she was afraid that as Snow White grew older, her beauty would surpass her own. She would rather kill Snow White than have her be a threat to her at all. I still get mad at the scene where she turns herself ugly. She would rather be ugly and have Snow White dead than to have someone fairer than her living on the same planet. Besides, I'm sure she was planning to transform herself back into her queenly state when it was all done with.

I haven't heard of that Laughing Well, I'm glad they didn't use that. It's not as magical. Laughing A poison bra?

Well, in the original story she comes disguised as an old woman and offers her a poison comb. The dwarves come later, take the comb out of her hair and she's fine again. The queen comes again dressed as another old lady with a belt (or corset or sash). It suffocates Snow, dwarves come, she's fine. Then lastly she has the apple. How dumb can this girl get? At least movie-Snow wasn't that dumb. She only lets the woman in because she pretends to have a heart attack Laughing
