If anyone can lead Disney back in the right direction, John Lassetter can.

What's wrong with Disney sequels? Four words. The Return of Jafar. Honestly I hate it! And I love Jafar! So it must be pretty sucky right? I've never seen the Emperor's New Groove sequel, Kronk's New Groove, but I bet it's not so great either. Little Mermaid 2 was all right, not as bad as Return of Jafar, but it was nothing to write home about.

ROJ isn't as great as it could have been, but I still say the DTV movies in the beginning were better than they are now. Crappy animation and all, at least we had a plot of some kind that didn't come off a shelf.

Kronk's New Groove is adorable. If you don't really look for substance in the DTVs, they're not THAT bad. If you think you are going to get some, you are going to be disappointed Laughing. There are exceptions to the rule, though.

i remember thinking it was cute, but i do remember some things getting me. i think it was just the lake of awesome adorible Spadeness. You know you love em'

RoJ could have been better. But i like iago, so all of the birdiegoodness made me happy. Now that i think about it, it did have that DVD release only/TV show colour quility.

RoJ was a thousand times better than LM2. The only things I had a problem with in RoJ were Jafar's choice of colour, (He wore PINK!) and Robin Williams didn't voice Genie. At least the characters were still the same.

In LM2, they just weren't the same. I agree with the people here who said that Ariel and Eric just got old. (Not in those exact words, but that's the gist of it.) I don't honestly think that Ariel would have wanted to keep Melody away from the ocean altogether, and given her own childhood, I don't think she would have said "the sea is dangerous" without an explanation.
I also don't like how they pulled Morgana out of thin air. "It's Ursula's crazy sister who nobody even heard anything about until now!" What? Could Disney not come up with a new villain? They did for KOT, and at least they didn't bring in some unheard-of sibbling in RoJ. (Though I heard they did for an Aladdin game, or something.)
And what was up with Tip and Dash? They didn't necessarily need to be in the LM2 movie. They just didn't fit right, to me.

::sings:: Adventurers/Exploreres!

i don't remember much about LM2, but i didn't like the villian either. i thought that was a bit stupid for her to be Ursala's sister. Disney's done things like that in other movies havent they, or am i thinking of something else?

The one thing i like about the Aladdin movies is the CHARATERS don't change! What i mean is, Al still just as pathedicly adorible in RoJ&KoT as he was in the first movie! in alot of movies, the characters really start to lose their personalities as more movies come out.

The sibling out of nowhere plot has been done to death, I think.

Do you guys think that doing the Aladdin movies and the series so close together might have helped with the content? I mean, aren't a lot of these sequals done years later?

I think it did. And the fact it was the same people working on the series and the other two sequels. They *knew* these characters and it was just a matter of sitting down and coming up with something else.
