Alright, so let's just say Aladdin was never made (LE GASP!! ) and assume Aladdin is your main Disney fandom...what would be your next big Disney fandom you would be a part of?
I have no idea what I'd be doing for a while because my next favorite Disney movie wasn't made until 1998, which is Mulan |

I think either Beauty and the Beast or The Little Mermaid. Since Aladdin was never made I assume both where made differently, better pulling me to a theater to see either of them. |

Oh, that's easy. The Little Mermaid. That's my next favourite Disney movie. I can remember when my twin sister, a friend of ours, and I had a contest to see who could see the movie the most times. I already had the upper hand, because I'd seen it with a friend in theatres, and got to watch it in school when it came out on video. To this day, I can quote every line...of course, I can with Aladdin, too.

Mine would be The Hunchback of Notre Dame, or maybe The Great Mouse Detective. Or Treasure Planet. I must be the only person in the world who didn't like TLM. _________________ "Now nothing will stand in the way of DOING THE DISHES!" |

Okay, lemme think about this one...
Most likely Mulan. Or maybe Monkey Island. I know MI isn't Disney, but... I've never been a fan of Disney for the sake of Disney. _________________

I LOVE the Great Mouse Detective, but I don't even know if there's a fandom. It would consist of me and you |

There's a fandom, but I have no idea how big it is. All I know is that there's this crazy girl who is convinced that when she grows up, she will go to work for Disney and that her fanfics will be made into official sequels. She scares the hell out of me. It's okay to have dreams, but I find it really scary how she seems so sure that everything's going to work out the way she wants to. _________________ "Now nothing will stand in the way of DOING THE DISHES!" |

Yeah, I thought that... when I was 12. Is she a member of Animated Lust by any chance? Because what you're describing sounds so familiar...
My second favorite is Hercules, but thinking back to what would have happened if there would have been no Aladdin it probably would have been TLK. Because it was RoJ that actually made me a fan and the whole idea of sequels is what got me thinking about Disney in that way, imagining that the characters have lives outside of the story (I'm probably not explaining this well ). So probably TLK because it was the next one to come out and if there's no Aladdin there's no RoJ so TLK2 would be the first sequel... but, then TLK2 would probably have never been made if RoJ had never done so well and... argh, so confused! I love what-ifs but it's much harder with real life than it is with fiction. _________________ "If only I could believe you. Perhaps I can! ...*smiles and nods* Nah, I get what you're saying.
Hercules and Tarzan are my third favorites, yet Hercules came out before Mulan. Even though I watch the series and I am familiar with it, I still wouldn't quite be in the fandom. There's so much backstory wth the myths and catching all the references that it would be too much work to be hardcore in the fandom . |

Well,Aladdin was made the year I was born, so for a while, I'd be too small to be part of anything. But I would be part of the Pochahontas fandom at some point, because that's my second favorite movie. |

WTF? There's got to be thousands of people writing fanfiction. The chances of finding a magic lamp in my back yard might be better. I hate to sound cynical, but people shouldn't write fanfiction in the hopes of having it become sequals.
Besides, I know one writer of a TV series I like who refuses to read fanfiction. I never asked her why, but as a writer, I would guess it's because she doesn't like to see the characters she helped to create given personalities and traits that were never intended.

At first, I had refused to watch the Disney Hercules, because I knew that they changed up the myths. But once I started viewing the Greek myths as stories rather than possible facts, I didn't have a problem with the Disney movie.
My husband saw some of it, though, and thought it was weird. See, he's into the live action Hercules TV series, plus he read the books when he was younger, so I can understand how he might view Disney's Hercules.

Don't know...I want to say TLM or BatB, but I don't really feel like I 'click' with the FANDOMS for those movies; would those fandoms be more like ours if Aladdin didn't exist? Who knows.
Maybe I would have made parks and resorts my primary Disney fandom. |
