i sometimes thought eric looked a bit like aladdin,what u think? |
I can see how they look alike on some level...dark hair, thick eyebrows, somewhat similar eye shapes drawn without defined lips...somewhat similarly shaped torsos and pants held up with a sash-like belt. If Eric let his hair hang loose, I could completely understand some mix-ups happening among the eBay crowd. (Although...wouldn't it be more accurate to say that ALADDIN resembles ERIC? Since TLM predates Aladdin.)
But that said (before people start flaming me and saying "What, how can you suggest they look alike...Eric's very European looking and Aladdin is not!!!!")...I KNOW. I agree...I'm saying to the casual Disney fan, at a glance, yes, there are some obvious similarities. I can see the passing similarities but think the differences are very obvious as well, esp. considering that their respective movies are my two favorites ever, Disney or otherwise.
They have very different complexions, Eric's overall build is bigger (they both seem to have broad shoulders and a triangular torso, but Eric is taller and all around 'bigger.' They have very different facial structures, too; Eric has a stronger jawline, and is drawn in a different style.
Sorry for the rambling, the Mermaid/Aladdin fan couldn't help herself. I'm reminded of when I saw the Christmas parade at WDW and noticed that Prince Eric looked VERY much like Aladdin. When Eric saw me, he waved sort of excitedly, and gave me a cryptic smile when I shouted "Hi, PRINCE ERIC" as though he could tell that I was going out of my way not to call him by another name...don't know WHY I'd ever have done a thing like THAT... (I'll try and post pictures for you. )

Oh, I agree with you; I remember seeing production material where they'd specifically told the animators to be careful not to draw him just like Prince Eric. So they're similar enough that it was even giving the animators problems. _________________ "If only I could believe you. Perhaps I can! After all... you do bear the name of a flower." -- Arbutus |

What?! How can you suggest they look alike, Ellen?! Eric's very European looking and Aladdin is not!!!
They look alike on first glance or if you're drunk, but yeah, the other obvious similarities seperate them. It's basically the eyebrows and the hair that can do that to you, though. |

I need him for the fishtank. He can guard the guppies at night, from the catfish. And I can watch him swim as well as the fish and snails. _________________ "I too am a member of your species, Captain, or I was. Perhaps I am not anymore. Ha ha.. I get it. CAT fish. But really, they just clean the tank by eating the algae that grows and uneaten fish food. |

I thought fish generally ate everything. I heard that fish don't know when to stop eating, which is why you're only supposed to give them a pinch of food at a time. In fact, there's this children's book where the little boy gives his pet fish a whole box of fish food, and the fish keeps growing and growing and growing, and eventually, it's even too big for the swimming pool.

Oh, yes, I remember that story. How was it they got the fish back down to size?
It's true -- fish pretty much eat everything that's available. Even the algae that collects in your tank. Of course, regular fish can't get the stuff off the sides, so a plecostomus catfish is a must for every fish owner, unless you really want to scrub the sides, which is kind of gross. Funny thing about plecostomus -- they'll even eat other (dead) fish. They are really not picky. _________________ *

They had to call the man at the pet store. I don't remember exactly what he did, though.

One of what? A catfish? I have a Solar Catfish. I got him at at the PetsMart. He's nocturnal, and spends his days in the shipwreck. The Tiger Barbs and snails, from the PetsMart also, and the guppies, from the Dr.Afek.

What do you mean? Are you saying because I have a cat? Yeah, it does eat everything. The uneaten fish food, the snails take care of most of that, and my plants, too. My brother tells them, don't eat the bulb! That's the only thing keeping you alive, Fatass! to the snails, because he's afraid they might eat the bulb the plant is growing from.
That's why the guppies sleep in their dormitory, so Catfish Hunter won't eat them. One looks like it's pregnant, and I'll probably give the fry to the catfish. So I don't have to buy ghost shrimp for a while.
You should see the way the Tiger Barbs attack the food. Almost jumping out of the water to eat. The problem is, the fat ones are the ones who gobble up most of the food, and they push the skinny ones aside. _________________ "I too am a member of your species, Captain, or I was.
