Any story where the writer decides Aladdin should pursue Someone Who Is Not Jasmine. (Well, prequels aside; that could work, as Aladdin did say he'd dated 'tons' of girls.) After all the fuss he went through just to get Jasmine and after everything they've been through together, I just don't see it happening. Ever. |
I think that's a problem a lot of Disney fandoms have when they make the main characters with someone else. You kinda have to reverse everything the reader knows and convince them this relationship is possible. If it was pre-Aladdin, yeah. But after? Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh. You're gonna have to come up with a DAMN good reason. |

It's the whole flies in the face of logic, thing. As readers, we can except some things, but go too far and you lose us. |

Like Jasmine dies in her relatively old age leaving Aladdin behind. And relatively old Aladdin is lonely and in need of company... and hooks up with a woman appropriate for his age.
Like that would ever happen in fanfiction. _________________

Pbbbt! I wish, but that would involve some creativity and thought. I haven't even considered it! |

Why is that a problem? Disney does it in some of their sequals. _________________

I don't think they come up with good reasons in their sequels...oh, wait, that's probably not what you were talking about. |

I can't think of a sequel where they did a good job with it. _________________

But Pocahontas and John Smith weren't married/engaged like Al and Jas were . Dating? Sure! It's all game! |

I didn't think about that one, but I think that one was important for the historical accuracy. Enough people already think she married Smith. Poor Rolfe. _________________

Yeah, it doesn't help they're both named John, either. |

It probably doesn't help that approximately 96.2335% of the male population* is named John.
Why anyone would want to name their child after an object pertaining to the handling of human waste products is beyond me.
*That may be a slight exaggeration. _________________
