This has probably been asked before so I apologize, but I searched and couldn't find anything.

Does anyone have a copy of the original Aladdin screenplay with 'Proud of Your Boy" and "Babkak, Omar, Aladdin, Kassim?" I've just always been curious to read it. Thanks for any help!

As far as I'm aware no one has ever managed to get a copy.

However, the upcoming musical in Seattle will have a lot of the original songs added back in and the plot will incorporate many of the elements dropped from the original story. So we'll know more of what could have been when the show opens next month!

I don't own that version, sadly. I have two worktapes that came after the major cuts, but not the pre-stuff they're about to do the play on.

I want to say there was mention of the scripts being in the Glendale Library in California? But I feel like if those were there, someone would have went there to look at it by now

I think you're right. I remember when The Wazir's Song lyrics were posted they were from a script found in a library (July 1990 draft, so pre-cuts I think) but I think it was also mentioned that you need permission to go, like to do academic research or something along those lines.

But I have to ask, what are the two worktapes you have like?! That must have been an amazing find/purchase!

One is the movie mostly as we know it today but with a few minor changes here and there (it says 'WRONG' across Genie's chest instead of the heart, for example), and then one is back when Aladdin was younger. The movie was basically a different take of the one we have now. Like instead of "Goodnight, my handsome prince"/"sleep well, princess"/the kiss", you get this:

Jasmine: I'm so glad you're not dead Smile
Aladdin: Me too Smile ....... who said I was dead?! D:
Jasmine: Jafar D: Be very careful around him. He can't be trusted :O
Aladdin: Don't worry I can handle him Mad
Jasmine: Yes, I believe you can Very Happy
*the kiss*
Jasmine: Goodnight, my handsome prince
Aladdin: Sleep well, princess

It's just weird Laughing. Some of the changes I wish they kept, but I can see why they changed a lot of it.

I would've loved to hear Scott say "Who said I was dead??" In his Aladdin voice Laughing But you're right, that's not as romantic as the final script.

Thanks! That all sounds really cool.

Based on that exchange I'm guessing Jafar's attempt to kill Aladdin/Ali came before the carpet ride in the early version.

I believe Jasmine is referring to when Jafar told her that he had him beheaded for kidnapping her.

And yeah, I would have asked wtf happened that Jafar said he was dead.

Yeah, but it might have been cool in the China rooftop scene.

It's hilarious the way Scott says it. I might have to sneak some clips on the internet for you guys. Then I can be a proper Aladdin fan breaking the law Laughing

And yeah, it's referring to the beheading. It's mostly the same plot, but there's a few added/deleted scenes, and a few changed lines here and there
