"If I had to hug one more princess during a vacation, I was going to barf."--Universal Studios Commerical.

Okay. Its like *that*, huh? Laughing

Put a poster of that little girl in every Disney park and refuse to let her in! If you want to trash talk the Mouse, you can't get in his house. Laughing

No, I'm just kidding. That would be sad if they excluded her from seeing the magic. Laughing

Well, I thought it was funny. It reminds me off that pepsi commercial where a Pepsi can starred in a movie and they brought in a Coke can stunt double to get crushed. Laughing It does seem immature, like the company doing the mud-slinging is nervous about competition. Cool

I've been to both Universal and WDW, and I have to honestly say...Universal's ET ride sucked. Greatly. Laughing

There's another commercial that jabs at them that I can't remember for the life of me.

And hey, you didn't HAVE to hug the princesses, you snobby brat Laughing

Cinderella: If I have to hug that bratty kid when she comes over for vacation again, I am going to barf!

Laughing

Why don't you think Disney makes a commerical with a come-back to theirs?

It's either that they're above that kind of immaturity or they secretly wish they could to it without losing their family-friendly personality. Laughing

It's because Walt Disney World is still the most visited theme park IN THE UNIVERSE Laughing. They don't need to.

You gotta hand it to them. Rival companies are always mocking them in one way or another but they never mud-sling back.

Is Universal getting nervous or something? They're putting out commercial after commercial to advertise for their park (I saw 3 commercials back-to-back) The first one was just a regular commercial, the second one was a Universal prize offer from Cola, the last one was a different commercial that informed that kids get in for free at Universal and something about parking discount offers.

By the way, did you see WDW's commercial? It showed Jasmine for a few seconds. She was in a room that kind of looked like the one in the movie. I want that room! Laughing

They really don't have to. I mean yeah, they've made some bad decisions in the past few years and some of their movies aren't too hot, but they are still Disney. There's families out there right now saving money to visit years in the future. This is one of the most requested places to go by people of all ages and all class types. They have something a lot of other parks don't have and that's reputation and prestige. Yeah, it's a little expensive, but when you get there and see everything, I think you'll understand why. I haven't been to Universal, but it just doesn't have the same reputation Disney does. So what if kids get in free and there's low parking rates? What about the place itself? That's the most important part.

Yes, I have seen that commercial and I squeed like a moron Laughing

I went to Universal Studios when I was three years old. The shark scared me. Crying or Very sad

I didn't see that commercial, (I don't think), but if I had a kid that talked like that, I might give them a spanking. Or say what was already said about Cinderella. (If she has to hug that bratty kid again, she might barf.)

And Disney doesn't mudsling back, because they don't need to. They're just like Barbie, in the way that Barbie is always bashed and slammed, yet she is the highest money-making fashion doll in all of Toy Land. And Disney could squash Universal Studios, Six Flags or Hershey Park anytime it wanted to, but Disney is being the better person.

Who is that brat? I would give anything to hug a princess. I would give anything just to see one. Actually, I would prefer it was Aladdin himself, but...oh, well. He can give me the money he saved up for the vacation, and I'll go in his place.

What I hate the most about that commercial is that when I worked at WDW, I met many Guests who'd come over after having visited Universal, and would you know how many little girls in pink Princess Fiona (of Shrek fame) t-shirts, pins, and baseball hats I saw on little girls? They do the EXACT SAME THING with her as Disney does with their princesses; it makes me SO mad. Disney doesn't have to fight back (so many guests told me "you know, they're so rude there...and when we tell them, they say, 'well you know, you're not in Disney...'"), and frankly, if they shot back something equally low, I'd think less of them for it.

And yes, the newest WDW commercial is great (except for that big 50 at the end...if the marketing people would PLEASE make it clear that DisneyLAND is 50 and Disney WORLD is celebrating that event, that'd be fabulous). Everything else about that commercial is wonderful!!!! That's what the magic's all about.

Haters and wannabees Laughing

When Shrek came out, Dreamworks kept bragging about how they don't need to make corny overexposed musicals like Disney does. (but they have no problem making corny overexposed spoofs, I guess) Then they announce that they're planning a live Shrek musical on broadway. Rolling Eyes

The only reason people loved Shrek so much is because it reunited them with their childhood. All the Disney-isms in that movie bring people way back. It means a lot more to people to have their favorite movies spoofed than it does for them to watch something that doesn't mean anything. (for example, we all found that Family Guy episode with Quagmire's date and the flying carpet hilarious because it reminded us of our fandom...and people like Scary Movie because they all knew the movies being parodied)

The other companies don't have anything as identifiable enough to spoof...

Oh, my God. Confused Are they trying to lose money? They need to treat their guests with respect if they want a reputation even close to Disney's.

EDIT: Actually, they need to treat their guests with respect if they want them to come back at all Laughing

Univeral's is really unclean...their bathrooms are filthy and the park itself is filthy...the employee's could care less that there's puke and trash and drunkards all over the place.

I haven't been to WDW in a long time though, so for those of you who visit regularly...can you tell me if it's still true that they might just jump you for littering or drinking? Laughing I'm exaggerating, but WDW came to mind when I saw that scene in Monsters Inc when they jumped that monster and torched him clean after that sock landed on him Laughing

Funny how the guy running it over there now STARTED that whole thing Razz

And to be honest, "Shrek" is the only thing anyone ever remembers from Dreamworks. Sure there's more like El Dorado and whatnot, but those are all mistaken for Disney movies time and time again. They are going to drag out Shrek until everyone gets tired of it because I know I did reeeaally quickly.

That's not all I remember. Prince of Egypt and Joseph King of Dreams were some of my favorite movies growing up. Very Happy
