I think we all know, in the writers' and animators' point of view why Mozenrath's guards are all undead manlucks rather than people or some kind of animal. It's the same reason why in other cartoons the heroes fight robots rather than people. It makes it ok to throw them around, rip them apart, and dropkick their abdomens. (That last one sounds like fun.)
So, given that, do you think there's people living in the real Land of the Black Sand? (Let's pretend it's real, ok? )
What are your thoughts?

I don't think so, if only because - why would they be there? And why has Mozenrath let them stay there? I don't think he has magical detectors up just for the gang. It seems like if you manage to make it there, you're asking for it |

I agree with AG, although that may have been an interesting episode (or fanfic, although it would be hard to avoid Mary-Sue/Stu in that case)! _________________

I doubt there are any in the city where the Citadel is; we would have seen them. But who knows how big the LotBS is? Maybe people live in other parts of it? I don't know if Mozenrath would care as long as they didn't oppose him.
While we're on the subject, in "The Wind Jackals of Mozenrath" there was a mention that the sultan had spies in the LotBS and that's how he found out about Moze's weapon. I want to know who's working for Sultan who's bad ass enough to spy on Mozenrath in his own kingdom. _________________ "If only I could believe you. Perhaps I can! Good point. I never thought about that, and I've seen that episode so many times! Well, we know it wasn't Rasoul or any of the other main guards for that matter. BTW, I'm almost embarrassed to admit that Rasoul is one of my favourite characters. I'd be sad if Sultan fired him. (And I think Aladdin would miss him. )

Haha! I thought that too! I think that any time any of the sultan's men do anything competent.
And no shame in liking Rasoul! He's interesting because you don't know how to feel about him. One moment he is cool with Aladdin, the next he's not. And all the while you just tell yourself, "Oh, he has basis for not liking Aladdin, and the bad stuff he did was just because he was being commanded by Jafar." But then you have that time he LAUGHED while pushing Prince Ali off that cliff, and you're like.... sadistic much? _________________

Then again, sadistic can be enjoyable in a character... provided that it's either as a contrast to a very moral supporting cast, or they're just very funny being sadistic. It gets confusing with Rasoul because he teeters on the good-guy line. |

What's the point in ruling over a kingdom that has no one in it? |

No one to disagree with you. He chose his subjects to be undead zombie-like creatures with no free will.
I feel bad for the mamluks actually. _________________

So, once a person has been changed into a mamluk, do you think there's ever any going back? Like, could Destane ever be revived, or do you think once undead always undead? What are your thoughts?

I've been failing with series stuff lately, but did they ever mentioned how that whole Destane thing happened? |

Not really, other than Moz saying he took his power, his kingdom, and his humanity. The rest is up to the fans to play with however they choose.

I'm thinking once a mamluk, always a mamluk. I think it might add a little twist to Disney's normal light-and-fluffy break-the-spell chain.
I also think we probably would have seen it reversed if it could have been, especially since Destane was such a big deal/big magic genius... Unless we did see it and I forgot. Did the gang ever get turned into mamluks? _________________

In Black Sand they got replaced with mamluk look-alikes, but that was it.
I also assumed that you can't be un-mamluked, but I know there've been fanfics where Destane comes back, so I know not everyone agrees. _________________ "If only I could believe you. Perhaps I can! After all... you do bear the name of a flower." -- Arbutus |
