Wow...
I don't know how I feel about this. It sounds like it could be pretty great, but then I get this nagging feeling that tells me Pixar made a mistake. _________________ "This cow's been covered with flour!" |

Yeah, I don't know how I feel about this either. Does this mean that 2D animation will be extinct for good?
Oh, and UPN and WB are merging now too. |

So...I'm not quite sure I get it. Disney just bought Pixar, right? They're not merging or anything? I mean, disney will still make movies under their own name and have other movies with Disney-Pixar, like they used to? Because if they were actually merging they'd probably have to merge names too. Like...Dixar...or Pisney. |

I'd have to agree with AG here - I'm not sure yet how I feel. I rambled about it a lot in my LJ, but it basically boils down to wondering how the creative dynamics will play out now. I'm afraid that if Disney starts really sticking their fingers in Pixar's creative projects more, it'll turn Pixar's wonderful work into the flaming pile of poopie that has plagued Disney for the last several years. _________________ I don't need intelligent drugs, because I don't know what they are. Yep, Disney has bought Pixar.
I spat nails over this... _________________

Random post I found discussing this the other day:

Maybe Steve Jobs is trying to take over Disney? _________________ "If only I could believe you. Perhaps I can! After all... you do bear the name of a flower." -- Arbutus |

There's a thought...
Still, with Pixar added to their armory and Eisner out of the seat, maybe they'll stop churning out the junk. _________________

I don't know about this...do you think maybe they're giving Jobs too much power?
Well, I clicked on Calluna's link and found another link about Bugs vs Antz.
I was very surprised. I liked both movies but back then I was too young to know about the scandoulous betrayals of companies...so I still don't quite get it. Did Katzenberg really betray Disney-Pixar? And where were the litigations? |

My theory has been that they'll make several computer animated movies that don't do well because they're still using crappy stories and then someone will go "Oh . . . wasn't the animation" and figure out what they need to fix. Don't know how this merger has the potential to affect things, though. _________________

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this means Lasseter is in change of both Disney and Pixar's animation departments, correct? That seems like a good sign to me. _________________ "If only I could believe you. Perhaps I can! After all... you do bear the name of a flower." -- Arbutus |

Could this mean the end of no more crummy sequels?
Which is funny because they were just now starting to get good again |
