This is a portrait of one of my OC's, it looks much better in real ife, because the scanner couldn't fit the whole thing in. The original had the top part of her top and more of her hair, but oh well!

Her name is Nadira, I think I mentioned her in of my previous posts. For those who don't know, coz they don't read my fic or just don't know, she is a gypsy with a bit of an odd past.

Now, before you say anything, she is not meant to look animated, she is stylized, because that is the type of drawing I do, stylization, because I want to be a fashion designer.

Soooo, whatcha think...be constructive please!

I love it and my family and friends love it, but I want to know what the aLaddin fans think!

To me, she looks nothing like a gypsy. A French girl from the 1960's, maybe... but no Gypsy. Her features are far too delicate for that.

It's cute! I like her hair and the look of her face. Like Syera said, they are really delicate, which I like. I can't draw delicate people Laughing. Her eyes are really cool, too.

The only thing I will tell you, though, is that line for her jaw on the right needs to go up a little so that her face makes more of a 'v'. Not a huge 'v', but just one so that it picks up her face a little more on that side.

I know I said this before, but that is a LOVELY picture! Still fine-tuning my drawing skills, so seeing your artwork is great inspiration!

Thanks for the advice and praise, I am still learning how to do large portraits, I am not used to it just yet, in fact that was my first proper portrait.

In case anyone was wondering, I got inspiration for Nadira from an Indian actress. I am Indian and watch a lot of indian movies, and well this actress struck me as Nadira.

I only got inspiration, I did not sit and copy her features, but have a look at her.

also, her features may be delicate, but features in the middle east vary, have u seen Queen Rania of Jordan? She has very delicate features.

I can sort of see Syera's point about a bit of a 1960s look, but I think it's just because her hairstyle reminds me a little bit of Gwen Stacy from older Spider-Man comics.

Such a lovely drawing! I love how you gave her eyes a 'smoky, sultry' look to them. She reminds me a bit of the belly dancer who performed in Morocco at WDW during my internship. She has a different nose shape, but the eyes and facial shape remind me of her, definitely.

Good work! Have you thought of doing a color picture of this character?

Thanks for the praise. I have done a colour drawing, but it's a small version and it's not nearly as good, she is in her belly dancing clothes, coz in the story she actually is a belly dancer! and gypsy, of course.

with the hair, it actually got cut off in the scanning; the portrait is bigger but it cut off her belly dancing bra and the rest of her hair which was flowing in the wind to her right.

I purposely gave her the smoky eyes for that seductive and mysterious look cause if u read my story, u'd see how it really reflects her.

Here is the link to the smaller one of her.

but it's not as good.

Which one? Queen Rania or the Indian actress I had posted links of? I think both of them.

Even Queen Rania doesn't look quite that delicate.

That's a good point. You should do one like that in color. But like, bien arreglada, you know, with the make up and everything.

oh well, tough, she has delicate features. Who said her origins were completely arabian? and I happen to have arabian friends who have delicate features but stll look arabian.

Also, look at Jasmine, she may have big eyes but her features are delicate.

Aww thanks for the defense. Not to say Syera is wrong, because she has a very valid point it just isn't the case with Nadira. For exaple, if a woman had some or all indian origin, u cannot say she should look a certain way.

this is because the way people look and skin colour is actually very diverse in India, so she could go either way and then have any features, she could be fair or more dark skinned, if i was to do it in colour maybe it would appeal more.

BTw, the above was an example that looks can vary slightly.

that's the reason I used india, instead of the middle east, just for an example.

plus, Nadira might have indian blood, because, the arabian nights (the time this and Aladdin etc, was set) was actually a set of tales from arabia, persia and india.
