Abu calling Aladdin "Al" was actually one of the things that tipped Aladdin off that something was wrong in the episode "Shadow of a Doubt" because he never calls him that. It's always 'Awaddin'. Iago has given everyone definite articles as nicknames: the rug, the monkey, the princess, the kid, the genie, the sultan, etc. Aladdin has called Jasmine "Jas" before in "My Fair Aladdin". Genie calls Carpet "Rugman", Aladdin "Al" and Jasmine "Jas" on occasions, of course.
Checked the transcript, and you are right, sir!

I am reviving this thread because I noticed Aladdin call Jasmine "Jas" in "Shadow of a Doubt" when she's about to be impaled by an icicle. It pleases me greatly to know that he called her by a nickname during a cute moment and not just when he's being an obnoxious jerk.

Zeusy, Mr. High and Mighty, Mr. Hey You! Get Off My Cloud, and Bolt Boy for Zeus
Whether he's trying to be condecending, or just a sleeze, he usually has a nickname for everyone.

Maybe "undignified" was the wrong word and I was really going for something like "out of character" or "touchy-feely." I wasn't aware Hades gave EVERYONE a nickname; the only ones I've heard him use are "Jerkules" for Hercules and "Jaffy" for Jafar. I'm trying to think if he has one for Maleficent in KH. It'd be funny if he did.

I don't know, I don't think Hades is really that dignified of a guy; he's more of a sleazeball Hollywood producer type.
Very much so.

Yeah, cause you had me confused there for a minute thinking he didn't say it. I was pretty sure he does
.
And Hades gives everyone a nickname. It's just one of those things he does.

Oy vey, did I screw up royally that time. I was almost positive it wasn't in there so I yell at people and then I go read the transcript again and it is. I only ever saw the episode once. [Now as for "House of Magic," that delightful little HOM episode...seven times? Eight?] So I guess I'm wrong and Hades really does call Jafar "Jaffy." It just sounds really undignified coming from Hades. I mean, coming from me is one thing, because I'm a psycho Jafar fangirl...Anyway what I wanted to say is sorry about that first post if it sounded too abrasive and I'll always read things twice if I have questions about them.

The only other character I can think of that can have a proper nickname is Jafar. "Jaffy. Can I call you Jaffy?" ---Hades
I don't know where you're getting this from. I believe you're trying to say it's a "Hercules and the Arabian Nights" line, but I read the transcript of that very episode and HADES DOES NOT CALL JAFAR JAFFY. Please get that out of your heads right now! Oh, here I am ranting and raving again, but I dislike inaccuracy. I read the transcript very carefully. That line is not in there. I also can't think of it being in any House of Mouse episodes or movies or in "Kingdom Hearts." Maybe I should go read that transcript again but I was almost positive that Hades has no such line.

Although I don't remember Aladdin using such corny lines on her.
Oh he's used a few
. I think she was referring more to the charm aspect
She would be right in that respect.
