For one, I read in another thread that Eden is fully-powered but not free as opposed to Genie who's *not* fully powered and free. How do you know this? How do their power levels differ?
Because Eden is still bound to the rules of the genie and he's not. We assume from what happened to Genie that once you become free, you lose some of your power because to have a being with phenominal comic powers walking around with no rules and years of abuse is a dangerous sounding thing . So, since she's still bound to her lamp since she wasn't freed from it, she still has all her power unlike Genie who lost some of his when he became free.
Another thing I wonder is, can other people still make wishes of Eden if they got ahold of the bottle? Would the Forever wish somehow block others from making wishes? That's what I've basically assumed for years, because otherwise surely Jasmine or someone would have freed Eden right away.
The way Eden was making it sound when she said she'd see Genie in a century (that line always makes me sad cause it's like they're planning a date after Dhandi's death ), it seems like no one else can make a wish because she has a master for a while. Then again, I guess you could get ahold of the lamp and undo that wish. That's a good question. ...unless, of course, the lamp read "be together forever" as forever-forever and Dhandi is now immortal...
I also wonder how come Eden, even in Some Enchanted Genie, was able to go like, into outer space when Jafar could only go some hundred yards or something from his lamp in Return of Jafar because of his manacles/bracers/thingies. But, this one I can chalk up to "Writer's Fudge". ;)
Maybe because he was a bad genie and it knew he wasn't going to be cooperative after having to hear him bitch in the lamp for a while?
Anyways, do you think Eden will continue to raise Dhandi herself, or try and find her a nice home with parents (and then stick around of course)? That's what I think she ought to do, but maybe that's just me. :)
I've always looked at Eden as sort of Dhandi's mother and I really can't see her with anyone else now. It's not like Eden has anything to do
comes up, and Genie refers to his powers as "semi-phenomenal, nearly-cosmic" - a term which he uses through the series upon occasion. This implies that Genie experienced a loss of power at some point between the two films. Although the exact cause isn't stated, the context of the conversation implies that it had something to do with his being set free.
Thanks for the example, that was the kind of thing I was looking for.

That would depend on whether a wish must be completed fully before another one may be made. If this is the case, then Eden wouldn't be required to grant anyone's wishes, as she is still technically fulfilling Dondi's wish. Unfortunately, there's no canon information to confirm or deny this.
Yeah that's basically what I was wondering. That Dhandi's (I really don't care how its spelled btw
) wish is still "in progress" is a good point.

I believe the difference here is that Jafar was trying to escape, whereas Eden wasn't. Think of it as being analogous to a winding dog leash with a lock - as long as the pooch isn't getting into trouble, you can give him a lot of leash to roam with. As he comes back to you, the leash winds back up. If the dog started to run after a squirrel, you'd probably lock the leash long before it reached the end.
Lol...okay.

I only said what I did because I think Dhandi might like to have parents like other kids. But maybe she doesn't care if she's like other kids or not.
Thanks for your responses everyone. I've just wondered about this stuff for a long time.

I know you guys have talked about Eden and the ramifications of Dhandi's final wish before, so I hope y'all don't mind that I'm starting a new thread, because I'm new here and haven't been reading the discussions for years.
Feel free to bring up old points and all.
Whee. "Ramifications." I love that word. It usually preceeds even better words like "giant cannon."

Okay we've all pondered on what the "forever" part of the wish means, but that's not what I'm really curious about. Maybe it's because Jafar didn't have a master at the time and your master determines how far away you can go? Genie could roam farther away from his lamp than Jafar could.
Yeesh, now you're making the lamp seem like sentient being. That's just creepy.

I've interpreted the wish along the lines of Eden has become Dhandi's guardian and best friend. Dhandi is still Eden's master, but in a lose sense of the term, so no one else can make a wish if they get their hands on the bottle. I think because she is still tied to Dhandi, she has a lot more power, but still tends to reign it in if it's not directly related to a wish, for reasons AG has mentioned.
As far as the forever part, I think the controls of the bottle recognized the spirit of the wish, which was to always be best friends. No artificial extended of Dhandi's life, and nothing to harm Eden. Probably after Dhandi's death (may it be a long time coming), Eden would be properly free and may then have the power drop. I'm basing it again on how I interpreted the spirit of the wish, and I saw the lead in to the wish as partially part of it ("Of course I'll free her, but...").
