Ah, you're probably right, that would explain it. I knew it would have to be Genie, on account of tobacco being from the Americas. They'd have to be setting it pretty late for anyone else to be smoking tobacco.
Hmm, well the catepillar in Alice in Wonderland does Hookah and Jafar has a hookah. Is hookah considered smoking? It depends whether you put flavored Molasses in the Hookah or tobacco flavored.
I'm sure to the people this kind of thing matters to, it counts. But they don't show Jafar smoking it, so it's not immediately obvious what it is if you're a kid; my memory's a little shaky but I think when I was little I thought it was some kind of incense...

Then why haven't I been because I can't stand it and I watch Aladdin pretty often. The most I've gotten is a love for the art of stealing

Wow. It's good to be back.
I have missed so much! Apparantly, we've all been brainwashed into smoking by Disney movies

The first scene that came to my mind was Groucho!Marx Genie holding a cigar.
And I don't think that scene endorses tobacco use any more than "C'est l'amour."

Oy, another thing people with no lives say about Disney movies. And HoND, wtf? I've seen it pretty recently and I don't recall anyone smoking.

Yep, only the small "Mind if I smoke?" joke and the romantic French guy were the only things. It's not blatant, and the second was more for the allusion to romance. It's not like Cruella deVille. And there was only one scene with any smoking in TLM (Grimby (I think) 's pipe), but that was played up for laughs based on Ariel's naivete about what a pipe really is; he's not even a main character. These were not smoking for the sake of smoking, and heck, not even on screen for that long.

...what the hell version does everyone have of this movie that I don't own? Because apparently there's a version where there's smoking, and anti-Arab messages galore, and sex everywhere. I need to see this
I got the same results you did. I can't think of anyone else other than maybe Genie when he was smoking during the Oasis scene saying "C'est l'amour". But jeez, the smoke made a heart. There was a reason for that

Still more disturbing is that tobacco use remained stable in animated films from 1937 through 2000. During the 1990s, well past the glory days of the 1960s, protagonists in Disney's "The Little Mermaid," "Aladdin" and "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" were seen smoking. In fact, characters were seen smoking in all seven animated films released during 1996 and 1997.
Anyone know what the hell this guy is talking about? I thought it was about Jafar's hookah at first, but he's not a protagonist. Maybe they mean Genie's "Do you smoke? Mind if I do?" joke, but anyone who actually *watched* the movie instead of googling the script would know he meant smoking like *on fire*, not smoking a cigarette.
