And the Disney-is-homophobic claim makes me laugh SO MUCH. Clearly they've never been to Disney World |
These people need to take one trip to the MK cafeteria and that will be dispelled. |

1: Aladdin is well-known.
2: People love having something to cry "RACIST!" over. |

What I don't get is out of all the movies out there that treat Arabs so much worse, why everyone only picks on Aladdin. I think it's their way to feel good about their social awareness without actually RESEARCHING anything.
Oh and also? Jafar is really, really, RLY not as "obviously gay" as some of these people call him. Make him whatever you want in fanfic. I don't object. I've shipped him with characters of both sexes myself. It's when these critics imply Disney has some kind of homophobic agenda by making him the way they did that I start eyerolling. |

*goes back to actually read the article this time*
Aladdin does not have a Midwestern accent. Scott Weinger is from Florida.
Also, if you think that attractive characters "look American" and ugly characters "look ethnic" then I'm not the one being racist. Watch Pocahontas and you'll see the villains in that are also ugly and with big noses - and they're English! |

After all these years it doesn't even bother me anymore. Always opening old wounds. Lets look at the bright side, Aladdin ends at the bottom of the list, in the 517 comments (yesterday there where 500) the reasoning behind Disney carcitures is well defended and about half the list is so far sought no one takes it seriously.
Bring on that essay. |

So now we know why she was hanging out in the garden in that skimpy outfit: she was tanning! |

Oh, I know the lighting one is dumb; I didn't even waste energy on that . They always pick exaggerated lighting to do a comparison.
"zomg look at jafar *shows him at night under shadows* and wtf look at aladdin *shows him under the brightest lights they can find in the whole movie*" No shit one's brighter. Someone doesn't know what the magic or lack there of of a light source does .
No one ever wants to use a scene they're both in where there's no exaggerated light and their tones are pretty close. Then they wouldn't have a case |

If you do then let me know, and I'll give you my notes.
Those screenshots are incredibly doctored, and even so Jafar's about the same color as me, and I'm pretty white. Plus, Aladdin standing in a brightly lit room, while Jafar's lurking in the shadows. Nice fair comparison, there. |
