I do think Al would probably kill whoever hurt Jasmine and the baby. He wouldn't let them get away if they did that, same as he did before.
But although the guards are kind of incompetent, Genie can help keep an eye on the baby, couldn't he? Iago, they can't count on too much.

Of course it would. Few people realize this, but Agrabah is actually under a curse so that disaster occurs on a weekly basis if the princess is unwed by her sixteenth birthday. Either the Sultan never knew about the curse, or the Sultan was getting forgetful in his old age and forgot about it by the series. Once they tied the knot in KoT, the curse was once again put off. Any offspring they have will grow up in peace, at least until they are sixteen and ready for their own crazy adventures.
It's also believed that there are may kingdoms under similar curses, which contribute to the Generation Xerox effect.
You know, I should just go file this under Wild Mass Guessing where it belongs.

....for some reason, I read that as "keep the baby in the crystal of ix"

Actually... Mirage might try it for that reason alone. I have this crack theory that her real goal is to turn Aladdin evil, or at least drive him to despair, and this'd be one easy way to do it.
*Raises hand*
I've mused the same thing before.

No problado.
lol
It seems weird talking about this, and other than what everyone else said... It seems implausible to me simply because... It's Disney!
The only time I can think of a baby dying is in Tarzan, and that's different. Besides, everything still has its honky-dory Disney ending!!

Re: pregnant Jasmine - what I meant was that it might be a lot harder for her to actually fight any villains in that condition.

Depends who it is. Against
magic
, certainly...

They might, but it'd be pretty stupid of them, since it not only would make Aladdin sad but also
really piss him off
. Right now he's fine with letting the villains escape with their lives, but I doubt he'd let someone go who killed Jasmine and/or his child. You saw how he was in "Garden of Evil" when Jasmine was only
kidnapped
!

But they hate him because he gets in the way of something else they're after. Most of them are after Agrabah/the throne, and while killing Jasmine/their child would devastate Aladdin...they still don't get what they want in the end. Whoo you've accomplished making Aladdin an emo panda, but he still has the throne. He's not just gonna give it to you now that he's lacking his wife and child because he's emotionally distraught
. And I really wouldn't believe a situation where they go "well, he's sad now, so we can kill him and get the throne" and he goes "yeah, I am, baww
" and doesn't put up a fight. Aladdin and Jasmine are stubborn people
And sometimes I think they like screwing around with Aladdin and the gang because they have nothing else to do. It's the challenge that makes it fun

I'd actually say it's more effect to strike when she's pregnant than afterwards when the child is born because chances are if they're trying to get to the unborn child that means going through Jasmine. That's a two in one strike right there. I mean, if they get rid of the child after it's born that's sad and all but Aladdin and Jasmine can make another one
. Get rid of the child AND Jasmine, and now we have problems. Then again, this only really matters if the villain is somehow constructing a "ruin the royal blood line" plan, which I don't even know why they'd care

Mirage doesn't need to have a solid motivation to do it. I think "... wouldn't it just be
delicious
to kill the child and destroy their lives" would be enough for her.
Then again, as her plans get worse and worse, she'd do something ridiculous like send in a monster made appears to be made of grape jello but is actually made of
strawberry
jello which will throw off their entire line of defensive and thus make them bequeath the throne and the child to her in an attempt to relieve the sheer confusion.

I can definitely see a child being a target for one of the villains (especially Mirage, maybe Mozenrath if he can... the others not so much, unless Abis Mal came up with some sort of ransom plot. Mekanikles would not want a pooping, drooling baby around.
), but I'm sure Aladdin and Jasmine would be aware of the risk and would take any measures possible to protect the child. Aladdin and Jasmine may not be up all the time, but there's ways to watch out-- opposite schedules, friends, guards.

Post subject: Would any Child of Aladdin & Jasmine's...
...make it to their teen years? Everyone always worries that once Jasmine becomes pregnant (which will be the ultimate moment/time where Aladdin & co.'s defenses are at their weakest) that the series' villains would take advantage of that, and use that perfect advantage of that opportunity to strike and attack the team. But what about AFTER the baby's born? Aladdin & Jasmine can't stay awake 24 hours a day. I imagine that after the baby's born any of the series'
competent
villains could just as easily take advantage of that situation, and kill the baby while it's in it's sleep while the parents themselves are also asleep.
