Only Strongbad would say "I'm going to have a heart-attack and die from not-surprise."

Oh that's great. You even got Gilbert involved Laughing

But yeah, internet transcripts aren't always the best reference. They leave out a lot of items, as well.

Thanks for sharing; that's a great story. Laughing I always heard it as "that surprise", but the other version's a lot more well known. I really need to go through and edit that transcript sometime...

You wouldn't believe how much energy we put into this petty argument! The main holdout who vigorously insisted it was "NOT surprise" first called home to have his wife put on the DVD with captions -- which, as you point out, say "THAT surprise". Not being content with the movie captions, which are admittedly sometimes wrong, he actually *wrote to Gilbert Gottfried* (gilbert@gilbertgottfried.com -- listed at his web site) and asked him what he actually said. His response was terse, but revealing:

It wasn't in the script.
It was " That Suprise "

Yeah, he misspelled "Surprise," but he sure spelled "That" correctly and unambiguously, and bolstered my side of the argument nonetheless. Wink

There we have it. It was "that surprise" -- and the majority of transcripts on the Internet are incorrect.

Thanks,

-Bryan

It's definitely "from that surprise". I even doubled checked on the DVD captioning Laughing

We're having a silly office dispute over the correct wording of Iago's quote at the beginning of the movie when it comes to light that the thief sent in to collect the treasure is not entirely pure of heart. He says "Oh, there's a big surprise! That's an incred-- I think I'm gonna have a heart attack and die from " --- well, that's my question. Does this quote end with "that surprise" or "not surprise"?

The "official" script for the movie (appearing at http://moviescripts.funnymovies.net/script/aladdin, and apparently transcribed by a fellow named Ben Scripps) says "not surprise." I'm not sure if this is correct, however.

Does anybody here have a different take on this?

Thanks,

-Bryan Owen
