Iago comments in "Fowl Weather" that he came to the desert because he didn't like the temperature in the rain forest. Better for his sinuses. Laughing

Or magic experiment. Maybe he was a person that was so annoying, a wizard turned him into a bird. (Not Jafar, since he seems to have already been a parrot when Jafar found him. Another wizard.)

How did Iago end up in the Middle East? He's a Scarlet Macaw, right? If he is, then he came all the way from the American Tropics!

What a weird bird -_- No wonder he eats his own kind.

The real problem is that birds have much lower morphological diversity than mammals: their basic body shape is very similar, as wildly differing shapes would be unable to fly. The only real weird birds are flightless ones, like ostriches and penguins. Mammals are a tad more flexible, and look quite different, so eating each other seems less cannibalistic.

He could have learned about vibrating chairs from Genie, or the Sultan might have a windup vibrating chair somewhere abouts.

I also wouldn't consider a parrot eating a chicken cannibalism, no more than I'd consider a human eating another mammal or a snake eating a lizard cannibalism.

He doesn't set off the magic detectors in "Wind Jackals", though...

He's also got teeth, binocular vision, and the wrong number of toes. Iago's a weird parrot. Laughing

That's probably why Jafar bought him. He's a science experiment gone wrong, so he's special Laughing

Where did you get the fact that Iago binocular vision and wrong number of toes?

If you look at a picture of a real life parrot their eyes are on the sides of their heads; most herbivores have that so they can watch for predators. Iago's eyes are on the front of his face, like a human's. Real parrots have two toes pointing forward and two backwards, while Iago only has one pointing backwards.

I've been an Iago fan for a long time, so I wrote some papers about parrots back in middle school and know this stuff off the top of my head. Laughing

As to the original question, both parrots and chickens aren't the same species, they're two species in the same class. Humans are in the same class as all other mammals, so it's really no weirder than you or I eating a cow or a pig. But I do admit it looks creepy to see him eating a drumstick. Laughing

But, then, parrots in real life don't eat any kind of meat, so it's wrong in a different way. Wink

lol you noticed too how creepy Iago eats a drumstick.
