Genie excrement? The horrors!
It might also explain why genies on the whole are so "off the wall": thousands of years starved of oxygen, stuck in a tiny jar with their own psychoactive poop. |

If Genie does require sanitation then I think we might have an explanation for Aladdin's trippy "Never Had a Friend Like Me" sequence when he opened up that lamp for the first time in 10,000 years. |

Lightning striking twice certainly has the myth factor to it, and sort of ties in with some of the original stories of genies as smoke or fire like in form. I can certainly see something like that being used as an explanation in the series.
An interesting concept would be genies reproducing "virally", by turning their masters into genies via misinterpreted wishes. Being long-lived, the low chance of actually turning someone wouldn't matter: a near-immortal species isn't going to become extinct easily.
In some ways, genies do seem to resemble viruses: they are highly flexible, if not in their genetic, then in their physical form, and they can survive in a viral capsid/lamp for extended periods, neither feeding nor breathing. Whilst a virus can only exhibit signs of life within a host cell, a genie (at least, an un-freed one) can only show signs of life when in possession of a master.
...Of course, by this twisted logic, Genie is Jafar's daddy. |

Here I go again... But I started a fanfic once (never finished it) that said that Genies were made by lightning striking the same place twice. |

I wish there was an episode about how genies are made just like the Smurfs episode that explains how baby smurfs are made. There's male and female genies, so I assume they mate in the old-fashioned way. As for eating? What I was thinking has already been stated. But I will say that I'd rather need food so that I could eat it, because if I didn't, then I wouldn't get to as often, and I love food.

He mentions a mother, so he might have been born as one. And I know Jeannie from I Dream of Jeannie was turned into one, but that's not particularly relevant
And I actually wouldn't be surprised if some of them were destroyed because while they can't just drop dead, that doesn't mean they can't cease to exist when you destroy their lamps.
My guess is that some of them are working and others are still in their lamps somewhere, so they're rare enough, but only because not all of them are out and about granting wishes, or have their freedom for that matter. |

And was Genie born or created? What happens when 2 genies get married and you know? And they never die, so the genie population must be constantly on the rise. So where are all of them? Or are genies are very rare species? |

Humans need food to get the nourishment from it and stay alive, but when you're an immortal being, I don't think food is that important to your survival, so you're just eating it for the hell of it because gumdrop pizza? Really?
That's probably why he's always making food as opposed to seen eating it, too. He definitely has eaten a few times, but I don't think it's for the same reasons we equate eating food for ourselves. It's probably just to give his taste buds something to do. Although, guava juice gives genies a cold, so I gotta wonder if that's maybe why they don't eat (as much) as well because certain foods do weird things to their magic and bodies.
As a side note, I don't think he was hungry when he gave his powers to Iago and was turned mortal because of it. It could have just been there wasn't enough time to be hungry, but you'd think there would be a list of mortal issues that would have come up like "Oh yeah, right, I need food to stop that feeling in my stomach." |

He definitely eats; RoJ is the first example I can think off off the top of my head:
"You know what this means, monkey-boy? More food for us!"
Whether he needs to is another matter. I don't think he does... |

Anyone notice Genie eating something ever in the series? Or he does not get hungry because he's a magical thingy. |
