Those are the greatest books ever, if only for their characterization of Aladdin.

I didn't like them that much. You could tell that they were set after Aladdin, and before The Return of Jafar... but Iago needed to be in there. They also were for people who didn't know anything about Aladdin... and I do. So, they kinda got boring. I needed some romance and more action in 'em

I did like Aladdin's characterization, but it did feel so empty without Iago around. I prefer "Tales from Agrabah", as it comes to books, anyway.

I've never read those books, I really do need more Aladdin books, but I have a hard time finding them. I know there was comics at one point, but they weren't the greatest either.

I'm just glad about getting the collector's edition dvd... doesn't that come w/ like an art book?

~~There's a child's book out where Jasmine talks about all her suitors before Aladdin. I like reading it just for new outfit ideas for my drawings~~

You mean the gift set, correct?

Well, it comes with a book that has a summary of the story, and then it also comes with 7 sketches done by the original animators.

I loved those books. Aladdin became such a smartass after he got married Laughing
I also loved the idea of a Dosh-ka (battle between two genies) and how carpet keeps his magic. So, so cool.

And I thought Jasmine's servant name was Aziza?

I think the stories were set between Aladdin and The Return of Jafar. I don't believe that they were married quite yet.

I think they are more AU than anything. In ROJ, it's implied that they haven't seen Genie since the events of the original, and the citizens are calling Aladdin "Prince Aladdin", which they certainly aren't doing in the series.

The only one I remember was the one about Carpet, which I thought was really cool. (But that magic-carpet-making family must have a helluva long lineage, if Carpet is over 10,000 years old. Shocked )

They said in the book that Khuyirah lived in the Great Eastern Desert 1,000 years ago, which is when he made the carpets. Damn, non-continuity Confused

Actually, in the comics one of Genie's old masters was an Egyptian pharaoh who was buried in a pyramid. So that'd be in the Old Kingdom, and definitely not over 10K years, unless Aladdin is set in the future. Laughing How can I make this work that doesn't involve time travel? Confused

Sorry for bringing this topic back from the dead (I actually had to go dig for it!), but something just occured to me today while watching an episode of Family Guy. It was the New Years episode where the city is destroyed in the year 2000. Anyway, Stewie, who was turned into a mutant octopus, said the line "That's it! Game over, man! Game over!" and I immediately thought of Genie at the end of the credits on KOT. So I did a little research and found the following:

Quote:
The phrase "game over" also has taken on relevance outside of gaming. It is sometimes used to signify an abrupt end, similar to the one a player might meet in a video game. In the 1986 movie Aliens, Bill Paxton's character Hudson uses the phrase to indicate what he thinks is a hopeless situation: "... Game over, man! Game over!" This phrase, shortened to "Game over, man!", was later used as part of the game over screen of the SNES video game Alien 3, based on the film of the same name.

So, I'm guessing that's a reference to the movie Aliens. Forgive me if this is known and I am a few papers short of a paycheck.

Yup, it is definitely an Aliens reference. That movie rocked. Very Happy

And you are a few papers short of a paycheck... but so am I... *evil laugh*
