It's hard to imagine Jasmine with anyone else but Aladdin. We know she was sheltered in the past but she's probably been introduced to a lot of princes and royal families in the past since she was little. Jasmine doesn't look like a stranger to flirting in the first movie. She was quite good at flirting, actually! She also seemed to know what she was doing those times she leaned in for a kiss in the first movie and got interrupted. This leads me to wonder who her first kiss was and when it happened. It's sweet to think she might have really liked someone she met when she was younger and didn't get over it until she met Aladdin. She couldn't have turned down every suitor from her past, could she? What do you guys think? Was Aladdin Jasmine's first kiss or not?

I can sort of see her being interested in one until that guy does something to blow it, or she realizes this isn't just a guy to date and this is a guy she has to marry. Sultan seems too frustrated with her lack of actually picking one for marriage/love rather than her not being able to pick at all.

I'm just going to think out loud here for a bit; I don't really have any favorite theory about this...

It's pretty unusual for a princess to expect to marry for love; she must have gotten that idea somewhere. If she'd been in love (or something she thought was love) before, that might explain it.

If she was I'm sure she was over it by the time of the first movie. Otherwise she wouldn't have said that she wanted to marry for love. She would have said something like, "I want to marry him or I won't marry at all!" And when she ran away, she'd have gone to that man or tried to get him to run away with her.

If she did like someone before, who would it have been? If it was one of her suitors, wouldn't they be married now? Laughing

It would have to be someone who wasn't a prince, or someone already married/engaged, or someone who didn't like her. Jasmine didn't let the not-a-prince thing stand in her way when it came to Aladdin, and it's hard to imagine someone not willing to marry Jasmine (unless they already had someone else they loved), so I'm betting on "already married", if anything. Unless she thought she loved a suitor, but when she got to know him better he turned out to be a jerk?

Jasmine in the first movie was a tease, but that doesn't necessarily mean she's had a relationship, just that she has a lot of experience flirting with men to get what she wants. She knows she's attractive, and she doesn't have any real power, so she kind of has to use her looks to manipulate others... If she's gone as far as kissing a man, I don't know, but I could accept if Aladdin wasn't her first kiss, it could have been the first kiss that meant anything.

It's kind of odd, but maybe it was one of the, um, valets or something?
